Swanscombe Tigers Football for Adult Ability Returns

17th September 2024

Swanscombe tigers are back after a summer break from football, with new recruits, strengthening their depth of the Adult 3 x Teams.

Challenging decisions had to be made by the coaching team in their player selection relating to player abilities as we play in 3 divisions. The Kent Disability League operate 6 divisions, Premiership (on grass) Championship 1,2,3,4 are played on 3G 1/4 pitch size and ‘League division’ is on an inside pitch. After a successful season last year 2 of our teams were promoted and we play in these divisions, Championship 1, 2 & 4 all on 3G. This is a step up for 2 of our teams, but they will grow and improve in the new pace of the game in these leagues.

The first round of games were held at Abbey Sports centre in Faversham on Sunday 8th Sept. It was a great morning despite the rain. All new players had time on the pitch with their relevant teams and thoroughly enjoyed real match time and doing all they could for the team. All players went away with smiles, which is the best result that I look for.

We were also able to present a 5-year long service shield to one of our players, Josh as it didn’t happen during presentation time, he was delighted to have this presented with all his teammates alongside him and team supporters.

The next event will see some of our Juniors enter the 3G again with some new fresh players that joined us late in the last season.
