North Tees Jetty Inspection
Frankham were commissioned to carry out a structural inspection by Navigator Terminals for North Tees No.4 Jetty in Middlesbrough.
Navigator Terminals North Tees serves as a hub for fuel and crude storage in the North East of the UK. The terminal has the region’s only deep water jetty with modern rail distribution facilities.
Frankham engineers obtained Ultrasonic Thickness Measurements (UTMs) throughout the height of the pile foundations above low water. Other structural elements of fendering, ladders, walkways, retaining wall, concrete decking and cathodic protection were also inspected.
The rock armour revetment was also inspected from a workboat during low tide, including examination of the submerged sections.
The main purpose of this inspection was to assess whether the previously identified defects have undergone any deterioration since the previous Frankham inspection, to identify any newly arisen defects and to help Navigator Terminals decide how to allocate maintenance budgets.
