Bradlands Sheltered Apartments & Communal Facilities

Frankham were commissioned by Oxford City Council to deliver affordable new care homes across five sites.

Bradlands is a £5.5 million development for people over the age of 60 and is a Joint Venture between Oxford City Council, the Homes & Communities Agency and Oxford City Homes, providing 46 one-bedroom and 3 two-bedroom flats with walk in shower rooms, individual heating systems and extensive communal facilities.

The scheme replaced existing substandard supported accommodation on the site, and formed part of a larger £17 million programme of works by the City Council to deliver 113 affordable new care homes across five different sites in the city. Some of the key features include:

  • Fitted kitchens and level access showers/assisted bathing room, lounge and kitchen
  • Communal gardens
  • Innovative atria allowing day light to filter to the ground floor and reduce artificial lighting
  • Solar panels, double glazing, sound insulation and biomass boiler
  • CCTV with door entry system designed to allow residents to see who is calling from their TVs
