Our Maritime Engineering services
Our experience covers a wide range of maritime structures including jetties, piers, pontoons, dolphins, quay walls, wharves, marinas, docks, berths and mooring systems, together with river and coastal infrastructure such as sea walls, flood walls, locks and navigation structures. We also provide engineering services associated with fender systems, linkspans, brows and lighthouses.
Inspections
We undertake structural inspections of waterfront infrastructure to assess condition, identify defects and inform maintenance strategies.
Our inspections cover structures such as jetties, piers, quay walls, pontoons, dolphins, berths, moorings and coastal defence structures. Inspections identify deterioration mechanisms including corrosion, fatigue, scour, marine growth and impact damage.

Structural Assessments
We undertake structural assessments of marine infrastructure to determine load-carrying capacity, structural behaviour and the suitability of assets for continued use.
Assessments consider structural loading from vessels, mooring forces, tidal and wave actions, environmental conditions and long-term deterioration.

Our experience includes tidal river walls in dense urban areas, coastal flood defences protecting waterfront developments, and river wall structures integrated with quays, embankments and transport infrastructure.

We undertake flood risk assessments for developments and infrastructure located within coastal, estuarine and riverside environments.
Our assessments consider flood risk associated with tidal, fluvial and coastal processes and support planning applications, development proposals and infrastructure resilience planning.

Permits, Consenting & Licensing
At Frankham, we support clients through the process of obtaining the licences and permits required for works within marine, tidal and riverside environments.
Our team has experience coordinating with statutory bodies including Local Planning Authorities (LPA), the Marine Management Organisation (MMO), the Environment Agency (EA) and Local Harbour Authorities (LHA).
