Nigel is a highly experienced geomatics professional with 37 years’ experience leading multi‑discipline surveying teams. As Associate Director at Lane & Frankham, he manages all measured building, topographical and specialist surveys, overseeing both in‑house and outsourced teams. With nearly two decades in senior measured‑building and BIM roles, he has driven the adoption of laser scanning and Revit modelling across several organisations and is known for his practical, solutions‑focused approach, particularly in sensitive or occupied environments.
He leads team strategy, staff development and workflow improvements while maintaining strong standards of quality and health and safety. His experience includes leading complex heritage projects, directing detailed surveys of historically significant or listed buildings with precision and care. This blend of technical expertise and leadership ensures reliable, accurate project delivery.

Getting to know
What is your role?
As Survey Manager, my role is to oversee all projects falling under the umbrella of Measured Building, Topographic, Monitoring and Site Investigation services. I am also responsible for the development of both our service offering and development of our staff.
What is the best thing about working here?
The diverse nature of what we do here means no two days are the same. In terms of the work, designing measurement solutions to our wide client bases unique problems keeps the work varied and interesting. Beyond the work we have a close knit highly experienced team who work well together and still manage to have fun despite the fast-moving pace we work at.
What’s been your biggest achievement and proudest moment so far at work?
As a Land Surveyor of over 30 years, I have had the privilege of working on some of the country’s most iconic buildings from the Royal Household to the London Museums. The piece of work I’m most proud of in my career is the measured building survey of the Royal Albert Hall prior to a major refit in the early 2000’s. As a manager, my proudest moments are the part I have played in developing highly effective teams over the last 18 years.
