Frankham provided services up to the concept design stage, with the view to progress the design further for planning and construction stages, for this project to provide a new retail unit at Waverley Station.
The project brief was to design 300sqft (28sqm) of a retail space and 100sqft (approx. 9 sqm) associated storage space and to including services such as power, water, drainage and fire system connection. The retail space is to be located in a currently unoccupied space located underneath escalators and stairs leading to The Waverley Steps on Princess Street.
The concept of the design is based on a rectangular shaped ‘pod’ module with glazed ends which could be replicated on any site and linked as required. In this instance, the module has side access and smaller unit linked to the main module providing storage space.
The ‘pod’ will be constructed of:
- Lightweight metal frame
- Clad with metal insulated cladding
- Curtain glazed wall and sliding double door
- Removable stainless steel mesh screens to provide extra security and able to form a freestanding sign/advert totem
The internal fit out and signage will be provided by tenant.
