The project involves the internal remodelling and refurbishment of the existing ground and first floor accommodation at Marcus Garvey Library into an integrated Library and Customer Service Centre.
The works include the demolition of the majority of the internal walls and the repositioning of the internal accommodation stair to enable efficient space planning to create larger, flexible open plan arrangements. A new mechanical heating, cooling and ventilation system along with new lighting will replace the existing mechanical and electrical systems which are nearing the end of their life expectancy. A new entrance door to Marcus Garvey Library will provide a physical link with the proposals outlined in the Tottenham Regeneration Scheme.
The Library accommodation is arranged on the ground floor and embraces the changing ways that the Library users wish to interact with the Library services along with providing flexible and adaptable spaces required to deliver the evolving Library services requirements.
Customer Services are to be integrated within the Library to provide customers with a ‘one stop shop’ facility and enhance the customer journey. Customer Services provisions will include: Self Service PCs, Interview Counters, Interview Rooms Public Telephones, Cash Paying in Machines.
