Havering College instigated the project to consolidate its construction and core engineering provision onto the Rainham Campus. The new facility would enable the introduction of a new construction curriculum around Modern Methods of Construction, BIM, volume/modular building and low carbon retrofit. The centre would also introduce a new civil engineering (road and rail) infrastructure curriculum stream. A BREEAM Excellent criteria requirement was stipulated for the project.
Frankham Consultancy Group was appointed for Building Services and Risk Management Services, Structural and design input for the provision of a new CISIC facility at the Havering College, Rainham Campus, including some reconfiguration of the existing facility.
Working in conjunction with Bond Bryan Architects the form and function of the building was developed to meet the curriculum requirements and deliver a sustainable solution. Frankham M&E and Structural explored and informed on various solutions to provide the Client’s spatial and functional requirements and produced a Feasibility Report for the preferred options. An Energy Statement was produced examining Low to Zero Carbon technologies to meet the Sustainability requirements of the London Plan.
