Frankham were approached Renewi to prepare a tender package for demolition of the jetty structures at Phoenix Wharf located just off Rainham Marshes, Essex.

With the help of a 600-tonne jack-up Commander (pictured) and a 400-tonne crawler crane, the contractor lifted the reinforced concrete jetty deck off its timber pile supports and transported it down river for suitable disposal.

The timber piles were then vibrated out of the river bed and disposed of accordingly.

The original demolition programme was estimated to last 10 weeks, however due to the colossal plant involved and favourable site conditions, the demolition was completed in just over 3 weeks
