BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification

In March 2017 Frankham achieved BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification in line with the Government’s Construction Strategy to add to our in house BIM Accredited Professional Staff. Frankham have been working with the BRE to ensure the we have capability to work within a BIM compliant project delivery in line with BS1192 and PAS 1192 BIM Specifications. The certification covers all of our offices and disciplines as BIM Task Teams.

What is BIM?

Building Information Modelling or ‘BIM’ is a collaborative way of working, a process and an attitude which is underpinned by a variety of digital technologies and methods which allow full coordinated design, construction and management to unlock more efficient methods for designing, constructing and maintaining building and site assets.

The implementation of these processes allows better communication with the client, greater understanding within the project team of the building as a whole and the ability to produce a more integrated design.

BIM is not a replacement for CAD delivery, it requires a change in thought, in people, processes and technology. It encourages transparent and collaborative working, not only within the design team but all stakeholders, clients and all the supply chain partners. Public sector clients are requesting BIM Management from their supply chain including the Government implemented Information Management role on all government procured projects from 4th April 2016. Updated BIM delivery guidance for both new build and refurbishment schemes, where funded through central government, is currently in development and an International Standard, ISO 19650, will have impact on the way projects are to be delivered in the future. Several other Government and non-Government organisations are now actively seeking the benefits from BIM processes outside of the mandate through their tender processes.

Embracing BIM allows our project teams to ensure better certainty in the changing construction market as a result of the drive for improved information modelling.

Our Services, Proficiency and BIM Maturity have been designed in line with the Government BIM Strategy document. As a multi-disciplinary practice, Frankham strive to ensure, dependent on client need and project size that our project teams are working on projects that meet the BIM maturity criteria of Level 2. Frankham is continually moving forward to providing a larger range of its projects within an Autodesk Revit®, associated complimentary software and processes within the BIM environment to meet the growing needs of its client portfolio.
