As part of a Borough wide roofing refurbishment programme by the London Borough of Hillingdon, Frankham Consultancy Group formed a skilled team to specify, procure and administer the re-roofing to multiple roofs at this site, to ensure they had a 25 year insurance backed warranty for the works. Associated works included:

  • Improvements to the internal rainwater drainage system as the existing system did not have enough capacity due to ad hoc school expansions.
  • Reduce excessive solar heat gains to improve the thermal comfort of the school and teaching environments.
  • Replacement of existing timber cladding in difficult to access locations, with PVCu variant, to ensure minimal future maintenance.

A very tight programme resulted in key site issues and non performance of the contractor. Frankham Consultancy successfully administered the works contract and overcame the site issues. We utilised expert knowledge of the contract conditions and procedures along with strong negotiation skills. These exercises were done in collaboration with the client, which ensured that the substantive roof works were completed within the School holidays, ready for the new term to commence, causing minimum disruption to teaching activities.

Working with the client, we designed and organised the work around a busy Infants School to ensure high standards of finish and Health and Safety whilst working around special needs children. At a site of this nature, it was imperative that the school was always kept informed of developments to ensure a smooth transitional process for the pupils.

Uniquely, there were two separate projects running concurrently on site, carried out by two sets of contractors and consultants with Frankham Consultancy Group administrating the principal contractor’s works. This required cross team collaboration to guarantee the smooth running and interaction of the projects to make certain there were no unnecessary delays and complications.
