Frankham Consultancy Group is engaged with Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) in the procurement of a contractor for the design and construction of a standalone office facility for their recently acquired Channel 5 broadcaster. Frankham’s M&E Engineers are responsible for ensuring design performance targets are achieved and will also monitor the works on site.

The proposal involves the infill of the existing courtyard area to create a new ‘Cat A’ office facility at approximately, 14,500 ft2 1,350m2. The project is complicated by the requirement to construct a new UKPN high voltage substation, refurbish the existing UKPN substation, create a VIMN substation with two 1500 kVA transformers, de-commissioning an existing 1000kVA sustain and maintain supplies at all times.

VIMN broadcasts to 60 channels Europe wide 24/7 so the maintenance of the electrical power at all times is critical.
Frankham is also appointed as CDMC Coordinators, which will cover the transition period through to the appointment of a Principal Designer, as well as BREEAM Consultants. The new building is required to meet the BREEAM ‘very good’ environmental and sustainability standard.
