MOD – Guided Weapons Hall

Frankham Consultancy Group was commissioned by Serco to provide building surveying led, multi disciplinary services to refurbish an old motor vehicle workshop building to provide a state-of-the-art teaching facility for Cranfield University to deliver the Guided Weapons Systems MSc course to the MOD on the MoD’s Defence Academy site. The new facility included a new mezzanine floor and is fitted out with four large, touch screen terminals used to enhance the overall learning experience and a variety of modern AV teaching aids, including a display-linked zoom camera for illustrating internal missile workings.

The hall displays a selection of complete missile systems, including air-to-air missiles, surface-to-air missiles and anti-ship missiles. Part of the design included powered hoists to suspend and rotate the missiles.

The facility was officially opened by Vice Admiral Duncan Potts, Director General of the Defence Academy.
